Listening to satellites
Although it talks to us at PitPat HQ via a ground-based mobile/cellular connection, your PitPat GPS Tracker works out exactly where it is in the world in a different way.
Whenever you ask it to enter live-tracking mode, it will start listening to the signals from around 30 "GPS" satellites that orbit the earth. Just by listening to those signals, it can work out where it is.
Your PitPat never transmits to the satellites – it just listens to them. All two-way communication with your PitPat happens via the mobile/cellular network.
