If your pet gets lost, your PitPat GPS Tracker is there for you. But how does it work its magic?
It's complicated... (well, a bit)
Your PitPat relies on radio signals from several places. Because those signals are provided by other organisations, and because of the way radio technology works, it's worth understanding a little bit about what goes on behind the scenes.
Finding your pet with your PitPat GPS Tracker relies on THREE separate radio links:
A receive-only link between the public "GPS" satellites and your PitPat Tracker lets your PitPat calculate exactly where it is in the world just by listening to those signals. To save power, PitPat GPS does this only if you've asked it to start live-tracking.
A mobile internet link between your PitPat Tracker and PitPat HQ keeps us connected to your pet. This is how your PitPat tells us how much activity your pet is doing, how it asks us every few minutes if it should start live-tracking your pet, and how it reports your pet's location to us if so.
A mobile (or WiFi) internet link between PitPat HQ and your phone lets us forward information about your pet (including their activity and location if available) to the PitPat app on your phone.
