Why only dry food?

PitPat's advanced "dogorithms" can recommend exactly how much food you should feed your particular dog each day using the details of your dog, the activity level measured by the PitPat on their collar (or estimated if they don't have one), and knowledge of how much energy is in each 100g or ounce of the food you're feeding. We have a database of known food types, or you can tell us the information for your particular food if we don't yet know it.

We can make this recommendation provided you are feeding a pre-manufactured, dry dog food (kibble) because the amount of energy (in Kcal or Calories) in any given weight of such foods can be accurately known and is very consistent.

Unfortunately, that means that we can't at present support wet dog food, raw feeding, or any mixture of those approaches because their "energy density" isn't so well-defined. In other words, although we could calculate how many Calories your dog needs each day, we wouldn't be able to tell you by weight how much of those kinds of food contain that particular number of Calories.
